I'm Tyson. I'm a 30 year old guy living in rural Virginia with the people that he loves most. I consider myself the luckiest guy in the world.
I haven't made millions and I'm not famous. I don't live in a mansion or drive a fancy car. But I am married to the most beautiful and wonderful woman alive and we have four rambunctious yet adorable little boys. My family is the thing that I am most passionate about and I love spending time with them.
Nine years ago I returned to the United States after living in Brazil for two years serving and teaching the people there about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was looking for a college to attend and my dad suggested that I "live a little" and go somewhere different.
My family lived in Washington state at the time and as I was looking for schools I stumbled on this little one in rural Virginia. I had never been there before and because it was too late to get accepted into any study abroad programs in Europe I thought why not go to Virginia. I came and I've been here ever since.
The first week I was here I met my wife. We didn't know it at the time but we were perfect for each other. Over the course of our schooling we became friends, dated, and eventually were engaged to be married.
On July 8, 2006 we entered into the covenant of marriage. Nearly a decade later I thank God that I chose to come to Virginia. My wife's name is Cami and I love her more than anything.
SO WHY THE UPLIFTING LOVE BLOG?
After being married for a couple of years Cami and I began to see couples that we had looked up to start to separate and divorce. At first it was just a few but each year there are more and more people that we know, who were once madly in love, that are walking away from each other.
About the same time we had people begin to ask us why we were so happy. Honestly, we didn't realize we were "so happy" until people started asking. We thought we were just normally happy like everyone else.
With the passion that I feel for my wife and family and my firm belief in the sanctity of marriage and the family I wanted to do something to help others. I wanted to share what Cami and I have learned and continue to learn about making marriage great.
After several months of pondering and prayer I decided to write an eBook, Uplifting Love: Secrets to Making a Good Marriage Great. When it was finished I realized that I had no way to get it to people. So Cami and I started this blog.
Uplifting Love promotes the ideal that marriage can and should be great and teaches readers how to achieve marital greatness.
Please feel free to subscribe to my newsletter below and get exclusive real stories from my marriage and from others that you won't find on this blog. You'll also receive my list of "20 Conversation Starting Questions for Married Couples" which has been downloaded hundreds of times.
And finally, please read this carefully:
I do not consider myself a marriage expert. I do not have academic degrees in this field or countless years spent counseling couples. I am a man who is passionate about helping people find happiness and joy in their marriages.
Taking your marriage from being good to becoming great isn't easy and it doesn't happen overnight. It takes time, sweat, and sometimes tears. And a lot of patience. But it can be done.
Let me show you what Cami and I have done and do and what we've learned and continue to learn about what it takes to make a good marriage great.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you on the blog one day soon!
